Taking Notice: The Healing |
I would like to share a story with you my Sister and Brother Friends: One day I watched a small black ant desperately making its way across a sidewalk that people were walking on. The ant seemed to dodge the crushing shoes by instinct! Finally, a child innocently rode his bike over the ant and she was no more: Her journey and her story lost. This tragic life scene gave me a moment to ponder our way of being in the world. There are many personal stories, significant moments and things that we are simply unaware of. One contributing factor: We just don’t always pay attention or take in 95% of our subconscious environment! While “most” of us certainly do not go around purposefully hurting, diminishing or ignoring the needs and existence of others or the collective planet; but at times we still do! We say and do things in a non-conscientious way that can lead others to feel hurt, dismissed and in physical and emotional pain! More times than not, we are clueless that we did something dismissive, callus or wrong.
Because of the ways most of our modern cultures function, we are mostly encouraged to be self-appointed and absorbed. If we are not careful, we walk through life only noticing, or focusing on, those things and people that demand we take notice (either via our enculturation or because they shout at us rudely or prolifically)! |
Yes, we are all guilty of not taking notice some of the time! Maybe paying attention to everything that is calling to us for compassionate recognition just takes too much energy and focus. Maybe there is so much going on that it is just too overwhelming to notice everything! So then, how do we successfully notice and appreciate all that is on our planet and in the Universes at large? How do we heal ourselves, our families, our world, if we are missing things? Now that I have once again brought this question to your attention; I invite you to come up with your own tools and techniques (mindfulness; prayer; meditation; affirmations; an “I noticed list”; keep a journal and others) for finding your successful resolution. The answer that I found my SisterFriends, goes beyond a simple surface understanding of “You heal yourself and others by taking notice”. The answer requires that you make a promise to reserve space in your heart-mind for the divine spark of existence in all others, and all things! By taking care to notice, we send out an energetic alert to others that this person or thing does exist; thus, deserving honor and acknowledgment. Remember: Whatever you notice often becomes your legacy for greatness, kindness, and healing.
